Welcome!
Thank you for taking the time to peruse our site! For 8 years, Shawn and I have talked about building a site of our travels but we have always struggled with the premise: how do we make it unique? We've learned countless amazing tips from travel blogs so we always knew we wanted to pay it forward someday, but we've also learned we travel a bit differently: we don't vacation to relax. We travel to disconnect, to be amazed and humbled, for solitude - that's all pretty normal - but mostly we plan ways to maximize our limited vacation time. We both work in healthcare and earn a lot of paid time off (PTO) that accrues monthly, continually mocking us. While traveling, we frequently meet Australians, Europeans, Canadians, etc on 6-week holidays (we will not be bitter! ). But, we just remind ourselves that we are grateful for our 7 days off .... all.in.a.row.
While hiking in France and Switzerland this summer, a lightbulb popped up over Shawn's head. I literally saw it. THIS should be our premise: The 7-Day-Vacay, how to "kram" as much in as possible into a week-long vacation. So clever. Surely we are not the only ones with this affliction. With my 8 or so years of experience, I think I'm getting pretty decent at trip planning within these time constraints. According to my 3rd grade job aptitude tests, I should have been a travel agent anyway.
Our friend Jay once said: "You can sleep when you're dead." I think that sums up our adopted travel style pretty succinctly.
Happy reading!
